Description
This song takes place in an airplane whilst flying into your home town. The city lights and the car lights which turn into a river which cut through the city. As you fly in, you realize amongst those lights there’s a photograph on someone’s fridge or a conversation going on about you. So no matter where you are or end up in the world there will always be a connection to home. “Shine on you midnight River”
Lyrics
Midnight River Everything looks different from 1500 feet town’s asleep but the street lights burn They won’t give up the dream Traffic turns to streams of colour the late night beacon glow flowing through the darkness to the place that I call home Shine on you midnight river wake me from this sleep wash me down in your white water bring fire to these streets Part of me will walk these shores forever Shine on you midnight river Memories come flooding back The dam gates open up Old guitars and campfire songs The moons watches from above Photographs wrapped in plastic On the fridge at mamas house I’m right there in that kitchen and haven’t yet touched down Shine on you midnight river wake me from this sleep wash me down in your white water bring fire to these streets Part of me will walk these shores forever Shine on you midnight river Moving faster getting closer The silent wind is blowing colder I could use a little warmth right now Shine on you midnight river wake me from this sleep wash me down in your white water bring fire to these streets Part of me will walk these shores forever Shine on you midnight river
