Keith Curtis' blog

Welcome all.

Hello to my friends:

I am not ignoring you; I am neglecting you. Not “you” personally, ya’ understand, it’s just that there’s a lot going on. It’s all DIY these days—probably like it is with most of you.

My home studio is expanding. It’s only natural that a musician wants to have the right equipment in the right place at the right time.

The most recent challenge is the pesky problem of recording vocals without hearing myself bouncing all around the room. So, without the skills, but with the determination, up goes the plywood and foam.

There we have it! A suitable vocal booth where I can put my fancy-dancy column mic and have at it with the vocals whenever I want.

Previously, recording meant diving into the night hours and driving waaaayyyyyy over “there.” Seeing as how I have a regular day job, it seemed like I should be closer to the recording equipment.

So, I put it in my own house.

There ya’ have it!

That’s it for now, my friends.

Best wishes, Keith Curtis

In Your Words

Thank you for your enthusiasm for my tunes.

And this:

I opened up my songs for sale on OurStage today.

How long will they be open for sale? I don’t know.

But how about saying “THANKS” to OurStage by buying one of the songs you like best.

Everybody be happy, Keith Curtis

Since Then

Since my last blog, I’ve put together two more albums.

I am a nominee for “Best Country Vocalist” at the 2008 Los Angeles Music Awards, which will be held in November at the Music Box Theatre in Hollywood.

I won Round 2 of the We Are Listening Org competition, for Best Lyrics to “Home To Dallas.”

Also, in November, I will attend the NACA event in California.

I see I have some updating to do so I can fill you in on the poop.

Thanks for listening, and thanks for your vote!

Best, Keith Curtis

It's Official! Album Number 4, "From The Attic" debuts this Saturday.

I hope you will join me in the first performance of songs recorded on “From The Attic.” Hot out of the box, and ready for you! Looking forward to meeting you. Saturday, May 10th, 2008 Borders Books and Music, at Arrowheat, in Glendale, AZ 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.

Old and New, Borrowed and Blues

Just finished CD #4. It’s a bit different for those of you who know my music from the first 3 CD’s. I have a couple of songs from the first 3 CD’s that were re-written after they were first released, so there’s some old, I have a few new tunes that have never been recorded, so there’s some new. I have some co-written songs, so there’s some borrowed and I finished it up with some blues.

It’s light on production, a little more upbeat than some things I’ve done and I sort of did it all on my own, with a lot of input from my wife and dogs. If the dogs howled, or my wife made a funny face, I figured I needed to do something different. Or was it the dogs making a funny face? Oh well, hopefully, I got it down because I should have real product around May 1.

Look forward to hearing more music from everyone. It’s good for you to listen and learn from the what you think is good and also what you don’t like.

Stay tuned for “From the Attic” due out some time in May.

If everything was all right, it would be alright.

Hello fans and friends,

It takes awhile to get it together here, on OurStage. So much to choose from and so much to do with the profile modules.

It’s a challenge to write, play, sing, record, keep up the P.R., and still get my modules straight. If nothing else is straight, our modules should be, that’s for sure. Know what I mean?

My friends and fans are amazing. I’m proud to be with you.

There’s a new Gretsch in my closet. Better than having skeletons in there, but not as good as having a Gretch outside of the closet and making music. It’s only in there to keep the dogs from sitting in the case when I have it out for studio work.

Which, by the way, is another blog altogether. I’ll let you know more about that in a little while.

Meanwhile, take care, and thanks for your dedication to the arts.

It’s just like that. Keith Curtis
