Lullaby Album coming this Fall

Rvlbjdnpexqw-500x400

I am excited to let you all know that my mother, Carolyn Southworth, and I are collaborating on a new album together and are planning to release it late this Fall 2008.

The album is going to be a collection of lullabies. Some old, some you know, and some that will be original works by each of us. The album is intended mainly for the use of helping babies sleep – it will be something parents can play in the cd player in the nursury to help calm. relax, and soothe..

Since the birth of my own first baby this summer, I have been interested to observe what kinds of music do and don’t appeal to him. I think I have a fairly good idea now of what is working with him. This, as well as many requests for this album, is what fueled the idea.

My mom and I have always talked about doing something together but never could come up with something where our eclectic styles could fully come together seamlessly. Until now.

While I am still hard at work on my own 2nd album (to be released Fall of ‘09), this lullaby album is going to be a seperate smaller project that we plan to release within the next few months. First digitally, and then possibly physically at some point later on. Or we do a short run of hard copies at first. We haven’t decided.

Album on Sale through Aug 17th - buy now!

Ulwcarlqsxph-500x400

Hey Everybody,

So…in an effort to be competitive with my other distributors (Amazon, Cdbaby, iTunes, etc….hugs to them but they do take chunks of my earnings), I am offering my album “Key of Sea” for a special price of $9.99 from my website for the next week only. I also offer free shipping and free autographing (if you want it). My album regularly sells for $14.99 everywhere else, plus shipping. Think of the extra gas you can put in your tank with the money you’ll save.

Wait. That’s still not very much gas.

Anywho – This is the first time I’ve ever lowered my album price, but I’m feeling generous. So take advantage, if you love my music and want to support me, now is your chance to get my album for a great low price.

Spread the word okay?

Be brave, click on over to www.jenniferthomasmusic.com. You won’t be sorry. I promise.

Sale ends next Sunday, August 17th.

Baby Thomas is here!

Jpwxkjxheaeu-500x400

Jennifer had her baby last Friday, June 13, 2008. Preston William Thomas was born via Csection after 22 hours of hard labor. He was 8 lbs 4 oz, 19.5 inches long, and has beautiful red hair and blue eyes. Mother and baby are resting up and doing well.

"Fly Away" Finished #3 in the Finals for May

Srhmpjqgazti-500x400

Well, I have to say it was a fun day watching the stats on all of the voting for the finals. I honestly did not think I would end up in the top 20, let alone the top 10. But “Fly Away” finished at #3 overall. That is pretty cool and humbling – there were a LOT of talented people in there. I am honored to have had the chance to compete.

I just uploaded some new selections that I’ve entered for June. This will be my second month competing on ourstage, so I’m curious to try out some other genres. For May I only had entered 3 songs into Instrumental, Solo Instrumental, and New Age/World – not having any idea how I would fair in any of those categories. Now that I’ve gotten my “feet wet”, I think I will try some more aggressive categories.

Just to clarify my music, I’m primarily a pianist. I perform as a solo pianist. I write music for piano. Occassionally for solo violin. But within the last year, I’ve had a lot of opportunities to work with filmmakers, and it has broadened my composition arena to include more cinematic music. So some of these new pieces will sound nothing like my piano-istic songs.

Anyway, I’m due to have a baby any day now, so wish me luck. It is my first – and it’s going to be a boy. My husband and I are anxious, I feel huge and am ready to get this overwith (the whole pregnancy thing). So I may just disappear for the rest of the month while I wallow in the fear and craziness at the getting-used-to-being-a-new-parent thing.

In the meantime, happy judging and good luck everyone. Thanks so much for your support of my music. I couldn’t do this without that, so thanks a million.

I'm in the FINALS! Support my music and get my album free!

Wow, so one of my songs (Fly Away) actually made it into the FINALS today! I’m pretty excited. I need your help though! Please vote for me in the Finals – your vote matters. Voting lasts up until midnight tonight (EST).

If I win the Finals, I will be offering my album as a free digital mp3 download for one week only for those people signed up in my fanclub!

Thanks again for your support everyone – this means so much to me.

Happy judging!

Top 10

I just wanted to express a huge thanks to everyone who has been voting for my music this week! Thanks to you, I made it into the Semi-Finals. :) Thanks again for all your support – it means the world to me. – J

New 'Beautiful Storm' edit entered into competition

I just withdrew “A Beautiful Storm” from Solo Intrumental, and instead posted a new edit of it in this category. The original version, even though it was doing really well on the charts (last I checked it was #11), I felt could have been doing better if I editted out the long intro to the song. The newest version I uploaded is the same song, but I removed the 20 second introduction so that it gets right to the heart of the song. Hopefully it will do just as well in a few days though after voting and get itself back up into the top 20. Thanks for your support!

Let the Judging Begin!

Welcome to my “ourstage” page and my music – I hope you enjoy it. I’m still trying to find the correct genres for my music (which would be Classical Crossover, Fusion, and DownTempo) but….I’m not seeing that in my options. So for now, they are in instrumental and so forth.

I’ve never put my music up on a site like this before – so be kind! :) I’m 9 months pregnant right now and I cry a lot. LOL Just teasing – judge away and let me know your positive thoughts! (I really am 9 mo prego though – due in a couple of weeks).
