Lou Derr & Bootleg Open for Randy Owen

Well we opened at Konocti Harbor last Friday night for Randy Owen and we met everyone and his band is really a great bunch of fine folks that are truly down to earth and fun to hang out with. I spent several minutes just talking with Megan who plays fiddle and sings with Randy. Megan is also on the same label, Broken Bow Records. If you check out Broken Bow’s line up of artists you will see a very impressive bunch including Jason Aldean. Now back to FRIDAY NIGHT. We went on about 8:15, Terry Montgomery Q106 and Froggie 103 Country Stations did all the announcing, They gave us a big warm welcome and it was truly the Star treatment for us all night long. We played about a 55 minute set which started out to be a 45 min. set but time just flies when you are having fun. Anyways we got the crowd warmed up and put on a flawless show. I got photos with Randy Owen and he put on a great show as well playing hit after hit of Alabama songs. The record label did ask me if my contact info was on my CD. And I told them yes it was. So maybe they might call me sometime who knows. I would love for them to take interest in my songwriting and they certainly had to love our live performance. I worked the crowd very good, I was told we had them on the edge of their seats, they did applaud every song with meaningful applause not just lip service applause. I am very happy with my band they were on their game that night and they got to see what it was like to do an opening for a headliner. I have opened over 60 shows in the past but with my new band, this was a first for most of them. One point I wanted to make was to make sure your contact info is up to date on your CD. Often times you might do a re-order on your Cd’s and end up with old info. on it because you forgot to change it with the printing service or the CD manufacturer. So a word of advice. We had a great time as always at Konocti and everyone loved the band. So another day and another few bucks but most important another 2000 people heard us play and loved us!!

Road Show Records to Release "Country Girl" Aug 1st

Hey I got a record deal going with Road Show Records out of Muskogee Oklahoma. They are releasing “Country Girl” a Rockabilly song I wrote. They will be putting it out on a compilation disk with 13 other songs. Lucky ME I got spot #1!. Anyways I thought you all might like to know. And I think the compilation CD’s are a good way for someone else to go to work for you and plug your songs so you can see what someone else can do for you. I’ll keep you all posted on how it’s going….Lou Derr They tell me it will be released to radio globally and they have 20 or more reporting stations that play their releases so we’ll see…..

John Fogerty in Concert!

“I had a breakthrough, suddenly I was 15 and sitting in front of Cosmo’s factory, watiting anxiously for that camouflage jeep to pull in. For me, Saturday night at Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa was all about being 15 again. the renewed energy of seeing my hero on stage (no not Rick Roberts, JOHN FOGERTY). It was like old home night, my good buddies at the William Morris Agency in Nashville had pre-arranged my passes and I was welcomed at the door by the infamous Greg Bennett (GM). With Lil James (my 8yr old Son) in tow and wide eyed as I was at that age, we were seated only a few rows back. By 9:00 PM my guy hit the stage running and performed hit after hit while mixing in some of the current stuff. The crowd was filled with electricity (and Benett’s pockets filled with cash) ... ;-) There really is something about rock-n-roll never forgetting. It was MAGIC. I anticipated every guitar lick note for note as I did at Cosmos Facory. I left the concert with a new lease on life, then half way home I realized I had forget my son back at the club… (just kidding, I didn’t forget…). I made up that part. By mid-night, I was back home again, and whatever took place in that concert would impact the rest of my life, and with a re-birth of creative energy I wrote 3 songs this folowing week. I picked up one of Fogerty’s new CD “Revival” and I am one happy camper this Memorial weekend. Hope everyone has a good one.

A New Month and Time To Judge New Music

WEll I added a couple of songs but i didn’t enter them. I have been busy working on our new show for this years Summer gigs. We rehearsed last night and the night before with a new drummer and bass player. The sound is awsome. I will post some of our live recordings as soon as I get one with out mistakes or stops. lol. Get out here and judge songs this month, you all should be pros at it by now. I know I have been slacking but I am getting ready for a good sit down judging session. I have a few tunes up this month for judging hope you like them, be sure to check out other kinds of music than the kind you always listen to. You might be surprised how good some of these bands or artists are, Good Luck everybody!!...Lou

It's Finals weeK!

Well it is finals week and I didn’t make it this time but for you Lou Derr & Bootleg Fans out there WE WILL survive and try again next month RIGHT??? Just remember to JUDGE and I found the producer Game which turns out to be pretty fun. Try it out. And it looks like they have alot in store for us all in the coming months as far as PRIZES and such. SO stay tuned and keep playing the music and maybe someone will get FAMOUS here!! Maybe even YOU!!! Or better yet ME!!!

Amazing this voting thing

It truely amazes me how you can be at #5 then a few minutes later or hours later be at #48. It is very important to be a judge and have all of your fans not just be friends and fans but get out there and judge. Your song is not going to get into the top 10 by it’s self. It takes commitment on the part of your fans and friends to do there part. When you run out of friends and fans GO GET SOME MORE. I found using the banners on your emails as a signature works well if you have another official website. You can also email Mom and have her help start a campaign for you, Your Mother probably emails more people than you and she can be a very good team leader and she will make sure aunt and uncles all vote for you. So get out there and get the Family involved. It’s not only fun it might bring your family a bit closer and make them feel they have a part in helping your career blossum! and so on and so on!...Lou

#5 Santa Fe WOW!!!!

Thanks voters and Fans!!! Can’y believe I came to work today and have been busy, So I just logged on about 4pm pacific time. and Bang!! “Santa Fe” Is #5 in Country!!! It Blows me away! Thank you all who are voting. That is very cool. Can we sustain this all month long????? WE Have to!!! Keep up the good work and keep the votes coming.

Playing in the clubs

Now, I want you to know first off that I don’t play in the Bars anymore. I have worked the club scene since I was 14. But now a days with all the drunk driving laws and such, If you live in a rural area the club owners are afraid to have live music and stay open till 2:00am. So what we did was have them start the music around 7 or 8 till midnight. But they still were gettin freaked out about people having too much fun. What is your thoughts on this? Any ideas are welcome. Please keep it clean. I will check in later tonite to see if anyone had responded. Myself I started working only the rodeos and the concerts in the park etc. Opening shows if there is a venue that supports that. What about pay ?? How much can you get them to pay?? and How?? I’ve got some 30+ years of experience to share with ya’ll if you want. I got some good stories too. So check in with me now and then to see what’s up. Thanks…Lou Derr
