I have to agree with TCollinsG3, yet it really says something to me when parts of this song gives me chills!!!!!!!!!! A live performance would be awesome!
Slow getting off the ground -- extremely, painfully slow. There's a lot of pain, angst and anger in the lyric, and that cat eventually needs to be let out of the bag. Finally a minor-key bridge hits at about 2:40, and the vocals start to evidence the force that the lyric deserves. I actually like the ironic return to the resigned-sounding verse that follows, but the chorus and repeated bridge that follow sound a little anti-climactic. In the middle of a live concert, this song could be quite stunning as a spare acoustic number, but the vocal power evident here calls for more powerful instrumentation somewhere along the line. I wouldn't want to pigeonhole or stereotype you as the next Amy Lee (Evanescence), but that kind of musical terrain comes to mind.
