Song of the Open Road

by Merry Ellen Kirk

This is based on the poem, "Song of the Open Road", by Walt Whitman. It's about the journey of life down a road that's already been created for us, but we have to choose the right way.

Wow - this is extremely beautiful, in a haunting sort of way. Totally deserving of that #1 spot. I'm voting for ya!

The track kicks in right away with Merry's voice, which is strong, true and beautifully recorded, with some excellent automated reverb. Accompaniment is restricted to a a minimal piano which leaves the voice right up front- just where it should be- to bring out the lyric. All this plus a strong melody, makes a very good song.
