The song was inspired by two that I was obsessed with at the time: 'Train Wreck' by Glen Philips; and 'Golden' by My Morning Jacket. Overall, it has a slight Elliott Smith (circa Figure 8) feel to it. Enough name-dropping...the song is a built upon a series of simile-structured verses - some observational of others, some even self-depricating. Long story short, the song is simply about finding the words to make a situation (e.g. love) work itself out...and if only it were that simple.
