"Distance" was inspired by the movie "Donnie Darko," and so a sci-fi story that I wrote called "The ... of the Galaxy." Musically, I wanted to create an image of a lonely piano player, expressively hitting the keys, disregarding formal rules, and lapsing into thought at times while the notes ring into the distance.
