Alexandria, by Rachael Pollard on OurStage Play

Alexandria

by Rachael Pollard

This is a little love story. My husband plays the snare and my friend plays the hand drums. I especially like the egg shakers toward the end...sounds like little snakes swimming in the grass. Or something.

I've heard every folk song in the month of February, 2009, and I think that Alexandria is the best song for the category, and maybe, on the ourstage site. It's such a beautiful song, and Rachael Pollard's voice is as clear as the skies after a rainy day. I hope this artist puts out a cd one day, because I would surely buy it, and I know other people would as well.

Alexandria is a pretty and sweet song, like peeling an orange on a hot summer day. This girl's voice is clear and scream-free, which is a breath of fresh air. She sounds like Bjork, but understandable, and without the whole foreign-accent thing, if that makes any sense at all. Anyhow, it's a cool song.

a really cute song, love her melanie-like voice, but goodness sakes alive - those drums are like fingernails on a blackboard... ouch...

Rachel has a very distinctive voice. As a fan of Melanie, I think that is a great asset. There will be those who don't like it though.
The song is a little quirky- and I like that too. The recording has a nice atmosphere- though I could not say anything nice about the drum sounds- I find them all horrible!
