Steve summed up the first impression of the song perfectly. The etherial backing vocals and spare guitar parts make a frame for a highly expressive vocal performance, and then the strings turn the emotional screw even tighter.
Heartfelt lyrics, and an insistent use of repetition all show a songwriter who knows all the tricks.
Truly an excellent track.
