wow, this has gotten uber ridiculous. i just wanted to say, you are where you are because you deserve to be up here. a facebook group? we have one too, but that doesnt make a dent toward voting. i know you guys put a lot of work into this and glad to see you are reaping the benefits.

im rooting for you

ps. Vmiccich, it's not nice to call the films here, "crappy". they all have something great about them and its an accomplishment in itself to finish making one.

best,

andy

Ode to Haters

Hey just a simple little word for all your haters out there playin the hate game...quit, just mo-effin-stop-doin-what-you-doin quit hatin, because you not doin yourself any good, heck you just doin Jesse and Sarah a favor cause the more you hate, the more we like em. Plus, we don't need ya'll to hate in order for us to love their movie cause it's the Bee's Neez ennewaiy. Why's it been up in the top 10's fuh so long? You hatin cause you don't like good art?

Do you haters really think that a few friends and family (or even a lot) that choose to vote this movie well over other downright fecal matter and verbal diarrhea on this site could EVER compare to the hundreds and hundreds and thousands of other students, filmmakers, friends and family from ALL-OVER-THE-COUNTRY who visit this site DAILY? DAily, do you know what that means? That if there are over eight thousand people on this site journally (That means everyday) the possibility of half or more of them being this films friends, family and supporters is slim-to-none? I'll give all you slow-reading haters a chance to read that again, it's okay don't be shy, go back to the beginning of this paragraph and read it again, a higher education costs money right? So read it once more, twice more, a few more times till it settles................................done? Okay on to the next subject, let me break it down fuh ya.

First off if you didn't make a movie, shut up. You got no right in sayin what you sayin cause you got nothin to place your confidence on but a blank ourstage page that has no uploaded videos or friends and the audacity to talk smack ("audacity" means you're full of it :~) ) so you might wanna rethink your strategy, yes? You ain't a big movie critic that got knowledge, experience, and an eloquent vocabulary (that means something more elaborate than "this sucks," cause that's just retarded) to rate a movie so if you're going to hate on a movie be a part of the creative well at least and then you can talk and "compare notes."

Secondly, the more you hate on a good film, the more you look like an ass. I'm talking about a real-live, gray ears and a tail, with an annoying sound, ASS. Do you think you're like a Hater Recruiter? Does the National Hater's Association of America pay you to go to ourstage on your Hatetop computer and hate on other people's art (Cause that's what this movie is, Art) and recruit other haters? Which leads me to talk about another thing. Is this a forum? Duhz it look like a forum to you? Last time I checked, this was a place to leave comments, not a page to be abused (Yes abused) as a Hater Recruitment Forum. Don't believe me? Check the icon you pressed to get here, go ahead I'll wait.........Believe me now? I hope so, stop usin it as a forum.

Fourthly, if you not gettin paid by the NHAA, or they payin you dirt...what reward do you get out of hatin? Is there some sort of gleeful after effect to hatin on good art? Some kind of Hater fringe benefits? Any sort of retribution (that's a better word for reward) at all? Do you find it amusing? Do you think people are gunna like this movie any less? Not likely. You should have started to see a pattern a long time ago but I think it all leads down to something similar to...quit hatin.

And now I'd like to dedicate this paragraph to dear Scuba Steve Millah. Scuba Steve, are you playing Hate Limbo by any chance? How low can you go? Really man? You actually "found" the time out your miserable hateful life to find "proof," proof of what? That this film's creators are more resourceful with the management of their supporters than others? Alluding (that means referring to, Steve) what Sara said about presidential elections. Do you think that if presidential candidates didn't say "vote for me" their supporters would be enthused at all about the campaign? Let that slowly seep in. Also, in relation to what Jesse said, sometimes the video doesn't even come up often if at all, so WHo in their right mind would actually sit through hundreds of videos (crappy) just to move a movie up one spot when it could just as easily move down twenty spots in half a day? And I'm thinkin, who in their right mind would actually take time out of their day to try and prove someone a "hypocrite?" Sounds to me like you're the hypocrite, actually the worst kind, a hungry hungry hyppocrite, in this case. Or maybe not confident in yourself as a person. Do you ever feel the need to justify degrading and down rating people or find people's defects in order to hide yours? You know I wouldn't want to play limbo with you, not in a million years cause I know I'd lose, so why would embarrass myself in a simple game of limbo. (That last sentence by the way, has a lot of symbolic meaning in this situation so try and sift through it)

Here's another little codebraker for you. We're all filmmakers (maybe not you Steve, or DavidLynching), but we're all on this website for the same reasons: we love the film industry and movie entertainment, we love to act or direct and make something unreal appear real, we just simply love going to the picture show and watching a good movie, a beautiful moving picture on a mammoth canvas. So what's the point of hatin? Even if you had a movie, Steve, do you think you'll get a Oscar for best hater comments? Ha-ha, that would be funny but no I don't think that's the case here friend. To keep this one short, it doesn't matter how good it is, in it's acting, directing, editing, story, or what have you, as long as it's done with love and passion for the art of film it's all snuff to me. This movie had all of that: great acting, great directing, great editing, and a novel storyline and that's why it rates so well. Not because it's TALENTED creators have this ploy of making everyone on Facebook vote highly for the movie. And I'm not sayin all that stuff about love and passion making a movie great period cause my movie isn't in the top ten. My movie isn't at the top of the charts and I love it. I know there's better movies than mine on this site, WAY better movies. I'd be pissed if mine was in front of one of those. Still, I don't go hatin on the top ones cause mine ain't as good. Like I said, there's a pattern here, a logic...quit hatin.

Oh and I forgot to mention...quit hatin. :~)

P.S. Sara and Jesse, sorry for the length

If what we had done on Facebook was in some way scandalous or unfair, then that would make my statement hypocritical. What we did was no different from a candidate stating "vote for me." The message was sent to our friends and others we know closely. Nobody in their right mind would come here and sift through 50 videos to rate ours if they didn't truly support our film.

The group page is for group members, namely, fans. If someone did not join the group then the information on the page was not for them. Telling fans to "vote in our favor" is different than telling strangers to "vote in our favor." Therefore, Jesse is in no way being hypocritical when he says,

"I am delighted to inform you that in our previous endeavors, we've taken considerable regard to make the public aware of the film's presence on the site. However, in accordance with our personal ethical policies, we have strived to avoid urgency to produce excessive, or otherwise unfair patterns of evaluation."

Look at the page all you want- "we need each and every vote" is the truth, not an unfair death threat.

Definitely nothing wrong with utilizing Facebook or Myspace to tell people about your film on the site.

Informing people about the film is one thing, but telling them to "Vote in our favor" is definitely something else.

I wasn't accusing you of being a cheater, merely a hypocrite.

Let it be known that Jesse and I created a fan group because we were receiving so many inquisitions from all types of different people (friends, family, fans, professors, employers) as to what exactly they can do to support our latest film endeavor. Convenience told us it would be easier to have everything on one page rather than to explain the process over and over again to questioners. One look at the page should explain to you that the group is supportive and informational; it lets friends and fans know what exactly they need to do to support our film on Ourstage, and obviously, we will tell our fans to vote for our film! We did not say to ignore other films, or rate them poorly, simply encouraged our fans to rate ours highly. If someone joined the group then they obviously were interested in supporting the film.

I should also point out that we were not the first CMF team to do this- we actually stumbled across another fan group and thought that perhaps it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep up with the joneses.

Creating a Facebook group for friends and fans of the movie is in no way "forcing" people to vote or urging them to produce excessive amounts of unfair evaluation.

There is nothing wrong with utilizing Facebook or Myspace to tell people about your film on the site. I haven't urged anybody to vote several times or condoned abuse. The site is cheat proof, anyway. There are so many people voting, anything short of getting masses to vote over and over again would make nothing but a dent. I believe this site is truly about the quality and popularity of the piece itself, and not the person who made it, which is why I really enjoy it.

Hmm...I don't understand...

"However, in accordance with our personal ethical policies, we have strived to avoid urgency to produce excessive, or otherwise unfair patterns of evaluation. "

don't get me wrong...your video was great, the cinematography is amazing and above the norm of the other videos. what was lacking is the flow of the storyline... but great job overall
