This song reminds me of growing up in the Oklahoma panhandle. There were many years when we just didn’t get much rain and sometimes there were no wheat crops at all. Living there was tough at times and we were dependent on the rain to make it from year to year. Several of the farmers that lived there are 2nd and 3rd generation farmers protecting the family inheritance. Some of those families are still there, but there were a few that could not make it through the pain.
