Many children in South Africa live at a poverty level lower than anything we can imagine. A team of Americans make the 8,000 mile trek there once a year to bring shoes and a hug.

As I watched this unless you have been there you will never grasp the poverty in which they live. Shoes were a not common. Mostly recycle tire treads are the used as sandles. At least from what I've seen travelling through Kenya and Tanzania. And it is no surprise in what has taking place in Kenya with their political problems.
No middle class, your either rich or poor. If you are sending items there by mail do not expect it to reach its proper distination. Check out: www.handsacrossborderssociety.org/index.html
