Etude op. 24 no. 2, by Lee Buchwalder on OurStage Play

Etude op. 24 no. 2

by Lee Buchwalder

This is a beautiful piece for solo piano that makes the instrument seem as though it were singing. The subtle accompaniment ripples quietly beneath a delicate melodic line.

I agree with the sentiments in these latest postings. You are a true artist. And you don't compromise your integrity just to "win" unlike too many of the others in this competition did. Thank you for keeping it real. All the best to you.

The extent of your musical knowledge and talent is far beyond even the total of those of the "top ten" artists here in this contest. In my book you have won regardless of what happens in this competition.

You're right. It does sing. Not only because of the tune but, you're impeccable timing. Nice choice. I too had to let the whole piece play.

Lee,
With only three short hours to go, I decided to let this song play all the way through because it is undoubtedly beautiful and deserves to win overall.
Be blessed,
Wanda

In my opinion, this is hands-down, the most adroit and provocative piece in the Instrumental division. The use of negative space is brilliant. Sometimes, it is what's absent that can make a song a commercial success. I could easily see this in a film soundtrack. It separates itself from other Instrumentals in its evolution. It develops from simplicity into an articulate melodic sequence. You have my votes.

Striking stuff....thoughtful breaths in between elegantly written notes....very bittersweet, very brilliant. Good luck....You've got my vote.

What I love about this captivating piece is its depth --it is sweet and seemingly simple initially, but the development and conclusion are well thought out and cohesive. It sets it apart from the other instrumentals here. Hats off to the artist....this is why he is in first place.
