"Back of My Mind" is the American dream, exactly as we are told it should play out. A young man is fired from his dead-end job, goes on a party-binge, realizes he's a waste of life and goes on to make something of himself. A young woman with a verbally abusive boyfriend and a bartending gig decides to go back to school for a degree in business. The two meet, hit it off, go steady, suffer a bit, but eventually make it through in the end. Sonically, you ain't never heard a better-produced pop song.
