In 1992 I left Michigan for a job in Pennsylvania. My last three weeks in Michigan were spent writing songs on Isle Royale in Lake Superior, as a Resident Artist. This song is a letter to my nephew...the tune was previously called "Letter to Joshua".

Hi Barb, I keep coming back to this song. I find it comforting. I would seriously suggest that you submit this song, via your Michigan congressmen perhaps, to see if the State of Michigan would adopt it as the official/unofficial State song.
I'd also love your permission to perform it, giving you full credit for authorship and directing inquiries about the song back to you.

I voted you best of 4 for "My Michigan". As an Essexville resident, I could identify with the lyrics and I loved your delivery. It exemplifies the best of the folk tradition (60's I'd say).
