This is pretty much a rock power ballad. It's about watching someone close to you slowly become more distant from you. It can mean different things to different people. On a personal note it was written for my mom who passed away two years ago. When I wrote the song she was just not trying to live anymore and the only way I could deal with having to witness this was to write the song.
