El'Dorado was written in Nottingham at my girlfriends mums house. I was feeling very lucid - probably because I wasn't able to do my usual boozing regime - and was very anxious about the future because I was moving down south from Scotland. It's one of those songs that hits the nail on the head but perhaps is a little disappointing because you don't like the truth you have discovered about yourself.
