This song was inspired by a conversation I had with my 75 year old neighbor. She was reminiscing about her deceased husband and she told me that “he leaves me notes around the house still”. I wrote the rest of the song around that line, and it is pure fiction. Although sometimes when I get up late at night to stoke the fire, I see that the light in her basement is on.
