About zircon

Portrait of zircon
Organic electronic.
Throw a Chemical Brother, a Super Nintendo, a dusty box of vinyl records, and a stockpile of synthesizers into a blender, and what do you get?

zircon – aka Andrew Aversa – has been fueling his electronic dance music releases and remixes with an unusual combination of sonic sources and influences for the last five years. It’s a recipe that has earned his second album Impulse Prime the "Best Techno Album" and "Best Techno Song" of the year at the Just Plain Folks awards in 2006.

Hailing from Pleasantville, NY, zircon taught himself the art of creating phat beats and huge synths during high school, after which he headed to Philadelphia to continue his studies in the way of the groove.

In addition to three albums and one EP released under the "zircon" moniker, Aversa has over a dozen remixes featured on OverClocked ReMix (from old-school video games), highly-lauded dance remixes of Philly-area rockers IKE and Octane, and licensed music for film, radio, TV, and video games, including the upcoming "Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix" for Xbox 360.

New EP Release - "Breathing You In"

Last May, I mentioned that I got a two-song breakbeat EP released through an electronic music record label – Progressive Grooves (http://www.progressivegrooves.com/) I also hinted at a bigger release slated for the Summer, and now, it’s available. :)

Breathing You In is an 8-track EP centered around the titular song, which features the vocals and vocal melodies of Jillian Goldin. Also included is “Antigravity”, also featuring Jill, and a remix of that.

Here’s the full tracklist:

  • Breathing You In (Original Mix)
  • Breathing You In (Original Instrumental Mix)
  • Breathing You In (Mikas Positronic Remix)
  • Breathing You In (Mikas Positronic Instrumental Mix)
  • Breathing You In (Indecent ...

Hello, In "the world circuit" you need some "art of zen", I think it's a good "system". I'm french, fan of YULES (a great french group) and seing your name on their page i'm on yours now. I'm writing this message hearing your good music. A french wellknown do something like yours: J.M.Jarre. Please sorry for my poor english. Can you listen the YULES sound? Now i'm one of your fans, would you be one of Yules. Thanks a lot. Take care. Pierre de France.

I'm in shock. I totally feel that "The Art of Zen" should have made the semi's. What I don't get is how a track can stay in the top 3 all month long (like your track) and then be shot down at the last minute before cutoffs. Your track is much more deserving than that. Oh well... You're still an amazing musician and keep it up!
