Progressive symphonic rock meets modern alternative rock in Zasz, located in Nashville, TN, formed in spring of 2006, led by Composer/Vocalist Tim Zim. Zasz crosses both genres and decades, blending progressive sounds such as The Mars Volta, Yes, Genesis, and Pink Floyd with alternative rock influences like Radiohead, Sunny Day Real Estate, Jeff Buckley and At the Drive-In, finally adding touches of jazz reminiscent of Steely Dan and Chick Corea, frequently highlighting the piano as a melodic and rhythmic driving force. This wide range of influences combined with a theatrical show allows Zasz to appeal to a wide demographic of listeners, providing a sound that is both thought provoking and fun to listen to. Making waves with its debut release, the full-length self-produced “wakeup.feelsomething.”, Zasz has spent the last two years crafting its live performances in its native Philadelphia before relocating to Nashville, headlining the Trocadero Theatre main stage, as well as the balcony for Comcast OnDemand’s Music Showcase, North Star Bar with HeyDay Entertainment, The Fire, as well as local venues in and around Philadelphia, such as Chaplin’s Music Café and Paul Green’s School of Rock. Zasz was also chosen out of 164 acts as winner of West Chester University Radio’s annual “Grand Ram Band Slam” battle of the bands, and was included in the Philly Sound Clash Compilation for Philly Car Share and 93.7 WSTW’s Local Heroes. Zasz also has performed to benefit many non profit organizations such as the Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis Research, Skate4Cancer, Aid to South Africa and Relay for Life, captivating both fans and prospective listeners alike with its explosive live shows and tight performances, while simultaneously contributing to the welfare of humankind. At Zasz’ center is singer/composer Tim Zim. By writing every song as a whole before distributing it to the band, he is able to create a completely unified and flowing sound from start to finish. He wrote and produced Zasz’ debut album “wakeup.feelsomething.” as an independent artist at Range Recording Studios in Ardmore, PA, releasing it in both physical and digital format in 2008. After relocating to Nashville, TN, Zasz’ next venture is a 12.5 minute rock operetta entitled “The Interstellar Healer”, followed by a sophomore 11 song full length, to be released in late 2009. Zasz’ goal is to continue to create music that causes listeners to think, question and contemplate, while still producing a product that is both enjoyable and accessible for any music listener.
