con⋅science [kon-shuh ns] –noun 1. the inner sense of what is right or wrong in one's conduct or motives, impelling one toward right action: to follow the dictates of conscience. 2. the complex of ethical and moral principles that controls or inhibits the actions or thoughts of an individual. Justin Vaughn aka Conscience was brought to this earth on May 20, 1985. Although his biological father left before birth, at the age of three, his mother met and married a man who would be influential in changing their lives. As a family, they began their journey under the tutelage of Bishop Jesse N. Gavin, and the Greater Calvary Full Gospel Baptist Church. Even though Conscience had this elite nurturing, a strong foundation, and biblical teaching, initially, he never fully attained a true fellowship with Jesus Christ. Even though he grew up in the church, the church did not grow up in him! Justin began rapping in the 9th grade under the name “Phenom”. He started mastering his craft by posting lyrics on internet forums and battling his way through emcees over the web. A long-time friend came to Justin and was interested in starting a rap group, and thus, “The Alliance” was formed. “The Alliance” dropped one album, entitled “Executive Decision” while Justin was only in the 11th grade. After years of leading an unpleasing lifestyle filled with secular music, secular views, and a secular lifestyle, Justin finally surrendered to Christ wholeheartedly at the age of 22. Now, under the mentoring of Jonathan Baker, also known as Jehovah’s Boy, Bishop Jesse N. Gavin, his family, and a few close friends, “Phenom” was put to rest and “Conscience” has come into existence. Conscience is a man of integrity, humility, and a man with an extreme passion for the people of God. He is passionate about his family, wife, and two beautiful daughters, who are the loves of his life! Unlike before when Conscience’s mission was only set on honing his lyrical skills, his mission statement now goes by the following: “If one soul is reached through this ministry, then the mission was accomplished!” Conscience is a gifted emcee who uses his lyrics as a tool to reach people and tell them about Jesus Christ. He is enthusiastic about spreading the Gospel not only through Biblical content, but also through sharing his life experiences. Former addictions to secular music, sex, smoking Black & Mild’s, alcohol, pornography, and hedonism all drive Conscience to reach as many people as possible. God has granted him the opportunity to work with many artists, such as T-Stone, K-Drama, K-Wild, S. Tigga, Teleah Hollingsworth, and Jehovah’s Boy, just to name a few. Conscience is humbled by the opportunity, preference, and anointing given by God. Ultimately, his only wish is to lead a life pleasing to God, and to have his life and ministry be an open book for anyone to learn of Jesus Christ!
