Theo is a refreshing pure raw talent representing the evolving Afro-pop genre. It is easy to mistake his voice for Luther Vandross listening to one of his low temple ballads. He hails from Lusaka, Zambia. Born November 18, 1983 he didn’t recognize his abilities until the age of 17. Listen to Theo Undeniably, Theo will make his mark on the music industry , globally. His former label, Runway Music once stated “his next release raises the next bar, once more.” In 2006,Theo, under the name Theo, was the first placed winner in the Zambian Celtel Star Search Competition where along with the top prizes, he was granted a recording deal in New York City. Shortly after Star Search he purchased an acoustic guitar and taught himself online to play the instrument. Not allowing the failed recording deal to sour his ambitions, he continues to pursue his dream of becoming a successful singer-songwriter. He toured his country and continued to develop a huge following. In 2007, he was also honored with the Zambian Ngoma Award in 2007 for Best Recording Artist. His first album proved to be a success countrywide. Currently in 2009,Theo is writing a second album. He returned to the United States and relocated to Atlanta, Ga. Here he felt he could explore new possibilities and creativeness. His musical influences range from Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross to R. Kelly and The Dream. Still , he insists to hold his own. It is not uncommon for him to take a stroll outdoors with his guitar and compose a full song within a few minutes to a couple of hours. Gathering inspiration from watching other people, a beautiful flower, or “ just how I’m feeling”. Under his new management Southern Hospitality Entertainment Inc , he has rocked the crowds at Atlanta’s Open Mic circuits. Together they have rigorously approached every avenue and appeared at any and all venues to build a fan base in the Atlanta area. This new self titled album focuses on love, relationships, and certainly his love of music. Listeners can expect “star quality” delivery of ballads and up-tempo beats not to mention a few rap verses here and there to bring some added flavor to his original songs. Always trying to stay humble, grounded and never failing in his desire to sit back and learn from others, he is sure to put Zambia on the map.
