This alternative rock, power trio (already a front-page regional media darling), played their first gig August 1, 2009 at The Venue. Since then they’ve record two CDs (EP: Exit; LP/Album: Mike Smith). They’ve played over 150 gigs together (including in Portland, OR, three at the Knitting Factory, Boise Music Fest, Boise RecFest, Promenade Music Festival, Boise’s Got Talent and Rock The Mountain). In the media they’ve been featured on TV: on Channel 7 (KTVB) and FOX 12 News; and in print in: the Idaho Statesman (Front page feature), the Ontario Argus Observer (front page), the Emmett Messenger-Index, the Boise Weekly, and the Mountain Home News. Additionally, The X and The River radio stations have covered them. Having played over 150 gigs together, this trio mixes classic-rock/blues/acoustic guitar with pop vocals, funk slap bass, and hard rock drums to create a broadly appealing, new, sound. With multi-state (Portland, L.A., Salt Lake, Boise), big venue (Qwest Arena, Knitting Factory Concert House) success, influences like G n' R, Red Hot Chili Peppers, AC/DC, Green Day, Bob Dylan, Metallica, Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam would be proud. AUSTIN WILLIAMSON: Band co-founder and the lead: guitarist, vocalist, and writer, Austin is a singer/songwriter whose passion since picking up the guitar at age six is music. Having studied under Johann Helton (classical guitarist, BSU music professor) and Gayle Chapman (Prince’s first female keyboardist) Austin began being noticed at age 13, first for his guitar play when pulled on stage by Tommy Castro and Kenny Neal (BB King Blues Champ) and also that same year for recording a Dunlop Crybaby guitar foot pedal video demo in his bedroom and receiving hundreds of thousands of ‘hits’ on YouTube for its creativity. In 9th grade he won first prize in the ArtsWest Guitar-off (with a perfect score) and recorded his first original scratch-track that same year. ZACH BONAMINIO: Zach is a self-taught drummer and co-founder of Workin’ On Fire. A grade school friend of Austin’s, Zach is an avid biker, photographer and snowboarder. Many of the band’s photos are his handiwork, and Zach is known to play gigs with a broken arm, through the excruciating pain (broken from snowboarding, of course). Bonaminio does many of the intangible things to keep the band operating, including logistical management, on-line leadership, and problem-solving for the group. The band manager calls him the smartest member of the trio. PETER MAGUIRE: Peter is a thoroughbred slap bassist who also contributes backing vocals for Workin’ On Fire. Known to tinker on the drums and keyboard, Peter receives formal guitar training and played upright bass in junior high. A noted athlete, Peter was the only 10th grade medalist in the 2010 5A state track meet in the hurdles, and he’s a top scorer for his school’s JV soccer team. Interestingly, Peter’s grandfather (Walt Maguire) was the E.V.P. for London Records, with his famed production including ‘Monster Mash’ and the signing of ZZ-Top.
