Tipp Top, is an aspiring artist, songwriter, and beat producer, in the Hip Hop tradition, born Christopher Hicks on October 12, 1976, in Toledo, Ohio. At age 6, his family moved to Colorado, where he lived with his mother, step-father and younger sister. At age 12 he was sent back to live with his father in a drug and gang-plagued neighborhood in Toledo, Ohio. By the time he turned 13, he was faced with the “lifestyle of do or die”. By age 15 he was in and out of juvenile detention and finally placed in prison, as another product of his environment, at age 18. In 1999, he was sent to the federal bureau of prisons and released 2009 with additional 5 years of federal probation.
“This experience has given me plenty of time to reevaluate my career path and to dream of what I wanted out of life. I read everything I could to get my hands on about the music business to ready myself for any challenges that I would face once released. I began to write songs about 6 months into my confinement period, as it was a great way to express everything into words that was locked inside my mind. Eventually, the beats started to emanate along with the flow of the verses I was putting down. The creation of music made the time pass like the movement of a rising tide toward the land. The concept of FLIHII (FLOWING LIKE I HAVE INTENSE INSPIRATION) RECORDS rose from this experience. I believe I’m a talented and creative man who like many others has come from the “underdog status”. since music has always been my passion, I have the opportunity to finally make it my priority.” “I met my business partner in January of 2010 and started working on my dream. We built the foundation(studio) in the house we now live in around June of 2010. At that time I was challenged with learning how to operate a computer and at the same time complicated software (Logic Pro 9). I released my first demo, EMANATION in January of 2011, my second demo, DEMONSTRATION September of 2011, and my third demo, CLARIFICATION April of 2012. I currently work two full time jobs just to ensure my freedom. I have dedication and motivation to my music and in keeping my dreams of alive”.
