We're an unsigned American rock 'n' roll band based out of Los Angeles. We've just self-produced our debut eponymous EP and had the incredible honor of having it mixed by one of our favorite mix engineers, Brett Eliason, who's known for his close work with Pearl Jam and REM, as well as System Of A Down, My Chemical Romance, Evanescence, and many others. We are also very lucky to have had the legendary Joe Gastwirt lend his golden ears to the mastering of our songs. We'd like to give a special thanks to Van Ness Wu for collaborating with us on the alternate version of the track, "Sometime's I'm Alive." Thanks also to Evan Rodaniche (Cage9 and Powerman 5000) for contributing backup vocals and brotherhood to "Down (With The Sound)." Our music is a multi-dimensional channel for our inspirations. Thank you for your support as we dream and create... Los Angeles rock band WINGS LIKE WEAPONS has had an eventful past few months. Vocalist/guitarist Siam, guitarist Kelly Strull, bassist Joshua Wheeler and drummer Nathaniel Wheeler joke about how events have been happening in reverse order of how they would have thought to plan them…   Just prior to releasing their debut self-titled EP in August, word of the band had already made its way to the producers of national TV show Bass 2 Billfish, the top-rated hybrid reality/fishing/travel show on the Versus network (cable, Direct TV – 603 and Dish TV – 151), who quickly placed three of the four songs on the EP in the first season’s episodes. The band had to scramble to get the EP distributed and into iTunes, Amazon, and other online stores before the first shows aired.   The songs, recorded by the band members themselves at Alpha Echo, their rehearsal studio downtown, feature guest appearances by Asian pop sensation Van Ness Wu and Panamanian rocker Evan Rodaniche (Cage9, Powerman 5000). The initial raw MP3’s were brought to the attention of Brett Eliason (Pearl Jam, My Chemical Romance, System Of A Down), who liked what he heard and offered to mix the songs. Joe Gastwirt (Metric, 311) added his mastering touches, and what started out as a rough demo wound up becoming an EP.   Following the EP’s online and on-air debuts, the band filmed a music video for “Sometimes I’m Alive” (the EP’s first track) and released it on YouTube in September.   By November, WINGS LIKE WEAPONS had accepted an invitation to affiliate with performance rights organization SESAC.   The band made its first live appearance at its own CD release show at The Viper Room in December and followed up with another well-attended set at The Roxy Theatre.   “Sometimes I’m Alive” has since been placed as the show opener theme song for Bass 2 Billfish, beginning with the second season (which started in January). Last season’s shows are scheduled for rerun this year.   WINGS LIKE WEAPONS is currently in pre-production for their second music video, “Down (With The Sound)” and scheduling live dates in and around Southern California.
