Wild Monica started in a dorm room at Villanova in 2007 with a pair of bongos and an acoustic guitar. Kevin and Ryan started as an acoustic duo and quickly began playing shows in the Philadelphia Area. At that time the band was called 5point. The band has grown and expanded to include a total of 6 members, and with the addition of these members underwent a name change to Wild Monica. Wild Monica started in a dorm room at Villanova in 2007 with a pair of bongos and an acoustic guitar. Kevin and Ryan started as an acoustic duo and quickly began playing shows in the Philadelphia Area. At that time the band was called 5point. The band has grown and expanded to include a total of 6 members, and with the addition of these members underwent a name change to Wild Monica. The uniqueness of their music stems from the unique combination of instrumentation in the band, including both a traditional drum set as well as different hand percussion. During a normal set the band members are constantly moving around stage from one instrument to another, guitarists swapping a bass guitar, and everyone taking a turn on some sort of percussion. Wild Monica performs in many different forms depending on the Venue and show. It ranges from the original Acoustic Duo to the full 6 piece band, and everything else in-between. The band’s top priority is playing as much as possible, so when the full band isn’t available or appropriate for the show they adapt to fit the bill.
