White Lightning. Is it moonshine, or a long lost 80's butt-rock band? All philosophical questions aside, the striking name will soon conjure a new image: the image of a modern rock power-trio who put the fun back into the music biz.
White Lightning is known locally for their fantastically entertaining live show and their tight musicality; creatively combining elements of disco grooves, 3-part harmonies, and lightning fast guitar/bass/drum solos. The band has completed two EP's and is currently working on their first full length album. White Lightning has played over 50 shows, where audiences have been moved by their hilarious antics, energy, and passion for music.
White Lightning was formed in 2007, from songwriter Steve Bosch's desire to forge music he loves. His seedling songs took on a life of their own when drummer Enoch Rottier and bassist Jimmy Rushton joined with Bosch to create the unique sound and awesomeness that is White Lightning. Together, they won Futuresfest Battle of the Bands, recorded the EP's "Hold On" and "Lock It Up", and rocked the Edmonton music scene for two years.
In 2010 White Lightning traded an Ontarian for a Saskatchewian, saying goodbye to Jimmy as he relocated to another city, and welcoming Ryan Jacobson into the circle of love. They won another Battle of the Bands and were thrilled to write and record a theme song for Jason Gregor's Edmonton prime time sports radio show (on AM 1260).
White Lightning is also a group who cares. They are socially conscious, and strive to use their music and unique personalities to help others; whether it be putting on a local show to raise awareness for the food bank or mentoring local kids, White Lightning strives to be a group that is down to earth. They always manage to bring a smile and chuckle to the hearts of the people their music reaches. The boys of White Lightning are excited to be part of a thriving local music scene, and they love to give back to the community that continues to give them so much support and encouragement.
