Critically acknowledged 22-year-old singer/songwriter Viv Peyrat is on the verge of releasing his debut album and is primed for an exciting year of performing and making a huge splash in the music scene in 2009 and 2010.
Producer and Engineer Shelly Yakus –– who produced and recorded the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and Madonna to name a few –– has said, “Viv is a guitarist that exhibits ‘chops’, taking us back to the days when guitarists could play so well your jaw would drop.”
The Philadelphia-based solo artist blends pop, rock, funk, blues and R&B modalities using acoustic and electric guitars that give buoyancy to a versatile brand of hooky material. Viv’s Fanbase keeps growing after each performance. He just recently performed sold-out shows at reputable venues in Philadelphia such as the Tin Angel, The Note, and Milkboy Coffee Shop.
Viv was born in Paris, France, but was raised in Philadelphia. Inspired by his father who was session drummer in France, Viv began to take up playing the guitar seriously by the time he was 13. Knowing early that he was determined to manifest a professional career as a music artist, Viv moved to Los Angeles in order to learn from those artists and industry representatives who would guide him creatively along the journey to becoming the primed artist he is today. Viv notes that he was primarily influenced by the techniques employed by such legends as Michael Landau, Steve Lukather, Dann Huff, Eric Clapton, and David Gilmour.
To each song, performance and project, Viv brings his far-reaching experience as a stage and studio guitarist with a repertoire and technique that reveals talent that transcends well beyond his years.
Comfortable on the stage at an early age, Viv began playing in various bands and advanced to Guitar Center’s Guitarmageddon regional finals when he was only 16. Throughout these years Viv played with a number of well known groups at popular industry events including South by Southwest, the Emergenza festival, and the Fourth of July Festival at FDR Skatepark to name a few.
Rock journalist Isaac David, Jr., has noted, “Viv has one of the most amazing voices that I have heard in a long time. And his vocals will simply melt you away when you hear him sing. He beautifully blends Acoustics, Electrics, Pop, Rock, Funk, Blues, & R&B into wonderful melodious tunes.”
The self-titled debut album features the singles “In My Way”, “Could Be You & Me,” and “Speed of Light”, and the 2nd EP titled “Aces High” features “Aces High” and “So James Dean”. They combine the attunements of the masters Viv studied as well as the cultural lineage of his ancestors. The record was self-produced with Tim Sonnefeld at Milkboy Studios.
Viv is currently seeking a major label deal and is looking forward to distributing the album globally in 2010.
