Like many songwriters, she writes wherever the inspiration strikes her…but it’s the relatable honesty of her branded ‘Organic pop’-both through topic and lyrics- that plays just as much into the catchiness of her tunes, as do the ‘can’t get ‘em out of your head melodies, calming chords, soothing progressions and the (intended) lack of overproduction. Her new album- PIANO ACTRESS- tells you more about her than a bio ever could: it’s a year-long collection of stories told through the eyes and the soul of Danni as the ‘piano actress’. The album blends a chilled vibe with emotional intensity- it’s one part soul, one part rock and all parts heart. It steers you through a small part of her life, with ups and downs and the beauty that lies in between. From the punch of the drums and staccato piano on the title track, “Piano Actress,” to the guitar-infused “Heart Hold On”- a jam with bass lines as deep as its lyrical meaning, the singer hopes this music catalogue inspires listeners as much as it has inspired her. With sassiness at full throttle, “Not the One” tells it like it is, quite matter-of-factly (thank you very much)- just like Miss Rosner- and lively resonates humorous observations of love and the actions that sometimes try to define it. The LP features full band selections, but also includes songs that are simply complex. “Over the Top,” and “My Piano” like all of her songs, were written on the keys, but are presented without embellishment- hauntingly stripped- to reveal vulnerability. This straightforward beauty continues with “Rock on By,” where Danny Kalb (Beck, Ben Harper, Rilo Kiley, Jack Johnson) and Danni, instead of recording a new studio cut of the song, used a 2 AM demo version recorded in her apartment months prior, because it magically captures the raw emotion of her voice in the most organic kind of way (you can even hear the AC running in the background and her clicking her MACbook to begin the recording.) “In the City,” “Kaleidoscope World,” and “Romantic Acrobat” grab a hold of your emotional sensibilities, satisfy your magnetism to pop, and charm your musical senses in a sophisticated, yet playful, piano rock kind of way. It’s clear Danni knows who she is as an artist, and her sophomore indie release, PIANO ACTRESS, sweetly defines the definition. As for the life of Danni Rosner outside of music, well, one thing is for certain: music is her life. But it’s no doubt the product of where she’s been along the way. She grew up in Tokyo and returned to the states in high school. An Alumni of Virginia Tech, she holds degrees in Musical Analysis and English, because she’s always loved music, always loved to sing and always loved words. She’s worked as a TV reporter in Italy, a touring blues singer, and has sang the anthem at major sports venues in DC (Verizon Center, RFK Stadium, Nationals Park) - even opened for acoustic pop singer/songwriter Matt Nathanson. Her greatest honor, however- being chosen to perform at Amateur Night at the Apollo in Harlem on June 3, and making it in the winning top 3. Danni currently shares her love of music with viewers throughout the US as host to a music video TV show called Strictly Global on a national channel. And with that, she proclaims with a smile, “I’m all over the place- and I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
