Ukulele Jim
Aloha! To begin with the obvious, my name is Jim and I play the ukulele. I’m relatively new to the music scene, having picked up the ukulele for the first time almost 4 years ago, and I’ve been winging it ever since. The uke is my first instrument and I’m primarily self-taught, with a few pointers from folks here and there. I’ve played live before an audience and recorded a few songs, so I guess I’m faking it pretty well.
The music that inspired me to choose the ukulele as my instrument of choice was “The Cowboy Song” as sung by Tom Hanks in the movie “Joe vs. the Volcano”. It was the first song I learned to play, and I’ve made a recording of it that you can hear right here (link is in the blog).
I just finished my first album featuring many other talented supporting musicians. Next up: I’m working on an album of children’s music, to be finished in 2010. Become a fan and join the mailing list to get notified when the album becomes available!
I hope you enjoy, and let me know if you do or don’t. I welcome feedback on my playing, arranging, singing and whatever else you’d like to comment on.
