Tom Garland's unique act blends hip-hop and topical comedy with a dash of home-grown Iowa flavor. He's worked world famous clubs such as Chicago's Zanies Comedy Nightclub, opened for sold-out shows with over 1,000 in attendance for B.J. Novak and Joel McHale, performed in some of the nation's top comedy festivals including Gilda Radner's LaughFest 2012 and Denver's Laugh Track Comedy Festival 2012, and was featured on Chicago's Red Bar Radio Show (formerly on SiriusXM Radio) and MTV.com, solidifying him as "one of the country's best young professional comics..." (TravelIowa.com). Not bad for a guy who grew up across the street from a cornfield. Garland has also had the honor of sharing the stage with Michael Ian Black, Heather McDonald, Alonzo Bodden, Mike E. Winfield, Josh Blue, Alex Reymundo, Chad Daniels, Greg Warren, Steve-O and Carlos Mencia. A rising star in his own right, Garland first gained early exposure on Opening Night of the Inaugural 2010 Iowa Comedy Festival, featured as one of the state of Iowa's best 'up-and-comers'. Since then he's gone far above and beyond the title. He was featured in the 2011 Cedar Rapids 4th of July Freedom Festival, placed 3rd in the 2012 Last Quad Cities Comic Standing Contest, and was a 2011 Finalist & 2012 Runner-Up in Penguins Comedy Club's Funniest Person in Iowa Contest. If working clubs, colleges, casinos, theaters, festivals and bars weren't enough, Garland has entertained for corporate giants such as John Deere. Garland also spends time everyday as a joke writer for Nesper Sign Advertising Corporation. Nesper Sign's jumbo-tron sized message center just south of Cedar Rapids, IA on Interstate 380 displays two different "squeaky-clean" jokes written by Garland to over 100,000 viewers every day. Garland has also appeared on local television stations, newspapers (stretching as far as Waco, Texas) and radio guest spots. Garland has been heard on such programs as "The 'Wake Up Call' Morning Show" on 96.5 FM KISS Country, "The Static Show" on KRNA 94.1FM, "The Morning Show" on KKFD 96 FM and is a frequent guest on KRUI 89.7FM's "American Reason" in Eastern Iowa. In 2012, Garland's success on stage led to the release of his debut live album, "Leash Your Kids." It is currently available on iTunes, AmazonMP3, Google Play, Rhapsody, Zune, VCast and in rotation on iHeartRadio, Jango Radio, Spotify Radio, and Pandora Comedy Radio. Fans can also pick up a hard copy off the shelves of Record Collector (Iowa City, IA) and Co-Op Records (Moline, IL). Back on the home front, where Garland still resides in Iowa City, IA, he serves as the Comedy Producer and House MC for The Yacht Club, Gabe's Nightclub & The Summit Nightclub and is a Regular Feature Act at The First Avenue Club. Tom Garland reletenlessly brings an act to the stage that leaves audiences laughing and begging for more. From college students, to suburban families, to late-show drunks, Garland can adapt to any audience and deliver with an unsurpassed energy. Come see why audiences everywhere are getting behind Tom Garland (and ducking for cover)!
