The seeds of Third and Maryland were planted in the 90's, as singer/songwriter/guitarist Michael Blau and drummer Dominic Silva learned the ropes in various band lineups in Phoenix. Michael and Dominic decided to search for other permanent members to perform originally crafted songs in the vein of funk-based blues and straight-ahead rock n' roll. Bassist Arthur Isaacs and guitarist/songwriter Robb Hamilton joined the band in 2008 and Third and Maryland was born. TAM were very fortunate to immediately starting playing shows to warm reception, in clubs and at parties, in and around the Tempe and Phoenix area. TAM recorded their first demo, a self-titled three song original compilation in September 2008, at Uranus Studios, owned by famed Gin Blossom front man Robin Wilson (name drop!). In early 2009, much to the dismay, but with full blessing from the band, Arthur packed his family up and left for Eastern Arizona to accept a postion in the medical field. TAM weren't without a bass player for long. Arthur suggested that his cousin, Rick Page, who is an experienced bass player and leader of the local hardcore band One Body Too Many, might be a good fit. Rick had been to TAM shows and expressed his interest as well. So, the current lineup was formed and continues to entertain audiences with their live show of upbeat, original songs that will get stuck in your head for days. Live sets also often include an old-school cover song or two, that will really take you back. TAM has completed the recording of seven self-written original songs at Pyramix Studios in Glendale, Arizona and plans the release of the as-yet unnamed EP in 2010.
