Coming together in San Diego from three different parts of the US and three very different musical backgrounds, The Tall Ships trio find common ground that somehow works. This unique blend of differences gives the sense they grew up listening to very different music but for very similar reasons. And this mash-up of perspectives gives the Tall Ships a sound that’s fresh, different and yet still familiar. The Tall Ships have toured Western and Central Europe and played numerous shows in San Diego sharing the stage with Fin Fang Foom, Sleeping People, Rob Crowe, An Albatross, Milemarker, Rah Bras and Transfer. The Tall Ships are Steve Kuhn (guitar, vocals), Kyle Conwell (bass, vocals), Keith Andrew (drums) Post rock that has a hint of folk-pop that really takes a classy and sobering turn. One thinks of Shipping News, Pinback and early Tortoise but the Tall Ships have their own trademark sound that falls quite nicely on our ears… Excit.free.fr (France) The Tall Ships beauty is in their uncluttered simplicity, …unrushed and at ease, it’s as if they were making music for no one but themselves… The Tall Ships have a rich sound that always sounds like no one but The Tall Ships. …clever songwriting that invites you in again and again…a glorious sound, beautiful songs and a deceptively simple sound that has so much going on… Organart.com (UK) Classic art rock lovers will enjoy their indie-rock sound, ingenious guitar runs and precision playing somewhat comparable to early Genesis and King Crimson but without the pomposity. – Lidovky.CZ (Czech Republic) The Tall Ships sail on a course equally pleasing, stimulating and defiant against any traditional rock norms...bringing to mind something Tweedy and Wilco might be doing now or in the near future.
