The Singles Vince Frederick: Vocals/Guitar Ryan Hurnevich: Bass Guitar/Vocals Brian Thunders: Drums A 1999 brainchild of front man, Vince Frederick, The Singles were established with a shared determination to bring the fundamentals of rock ‘n’ roll to a new generation. Emerging from a musically thriving garage-rock epicenter, The Singles undoubtedly share the unyielding energy and enthusiasm of recent Detroit sensations, but boast a sound that is all their own. Bringing a modern twist to classic rock ‘n’ roll stylings, their tunes tug on the heartstrings of those who remember the greats of the past, and spark the interest of those looking for a fresh sound in today’s music scene. Originating as a four-piece band, with a line-up designed to mirror classic four-man rosters of past decades, The Singles debuted with a self-titled, self-released EP in 2001, followed by the LP, Better Than Before (Rainbow Quartz Records) in 2003. After supporting Better Than Before with tours in Europe, Japan, and The States, and releasing two CD-singles along with a second EP, Frederick restructured The Singles to form a trio and acquired current drummer, Brian Thunders. With fresh faces came a new record. Start Again (Sound Artifacts Music), the group’s sophomore LP, was released in 2007, followed by extensive touring in both the US and Europe. The Singles performed in notable music festivals world-wide, ranging from SXSW to Pop Montreal, and from CMJ Music Week in New York to the International Pop Overthrow in LA, Chicago, and Liverpool. The band returned to the Detroit area, driven to get back into the studio and record new material. “Don’t Need Your Love,” the A-side on the first of 4 CD-singles to be issued in 2009, was released in the US on February 10, and is set to break in Europe on March 13th. “Don’t Need Your Love” was produced by Jim Diamond, Ghetto Records [The White Stripes, The Von Bondies, The Romantics] and mixed by Todd Burke [The Kooks, Johnny Cash, The Foo Fighters]. The Singles are supporting DNYL with a music video, produced by Christopher Chynoweth [Kid Rock, Electric Six, Bizarre feat. Eminem], and with local touring, both featuring the current line-up: Vince Frederick [vox, guitar], Ryan Hurnevich [backing vox, bass], and Brian Thunders [drums].
