Formed by Stephen Kent with guitarist Patrick Boyd, The Radio Reds initially came to fruition in early 2011 to play a large number of Kent's acoustic music - translated into four piece punk rock. Formed by Stephen Kent with guitarist Patrick Boyd, The Radio Reds initially came to fruition in early 2011 to play a large number of Kent's acoustic music - translated into four piece punk rock. Aaron Schimmel joined on drums, and Michael Kent joined later that year. The group recorded their self titled EP in the summer of 2011 (Kris Hilbert, Legitimate Business) and followed it with an acoustic EP and then recorded Live Demo at Legitimate Business that winter, garnering a good deal of coverage in the US and UK. The band immediately began 2012 playing throughout NC and SC in 2012 and supported both Against Me and The Jealous Sound in North Carolina. They joined wth SC based Baby Moon Records and put out the Let It Show EP on CD, and followed it up with a self released split 7" with The Nondenoms (Greensboro, NC). The Radio Reds have since toured the east coast and released in 2013 their full length, Memory Loss (Scaredy Cat Records) and particpated in festivals in the state, supporting well known acts such as Daylight, The World is a Beautiful Place, The Menzingers and more. Recently the band has added Rusty Colton on guitar and Andrew Huggins on drums and relocated to Charlotte, NC. They are now working on a new EP.
