All 5 of us and the band as a whole were nominated for 6 Buffalo Music Awards, Here's our Bio. You can hear our songs at www.myspace.com/GaryZoldos BIO for The Pillagers The Pillagers are Buffalo's newest supergroup. Formed this summer, The Pillagers have over 50 years of combined professional music experience amongst them. The group made their debut this summer at the Town Ballroom for the "Feed the City" Benefit Concert for Buffalo City Mission with Bruce Hornsby, where they were an instant success. They crowd reaction, attendance and rave reviews lead to a slot at "Rockin' at the Knox" with the B-52's and a sold out gig with Willie Nile. The Pillagers lineup includes local guitar god, Patrick Kane (The Elements/The Stains, Mirror, Mirror, Paisley Tease, the 7th Sons, and John & Mary and the Valkyries), John Lombardo (Founding Member of 10,000 Maniacs, John & Mary), David Bowling (Hayshaker Jones, The Whiskey Daredevils), Dave Privitera (The If’s, Myron and the Id), and Gary Zoldos (The Hiwatts, The Method and The 7th Sons). Look for more high profile Pillagers gigs and lots of new music soon. You can check out more at www/myspace.com/garyzoldos. A Pillagers website is in the works. BIO for Gary Zoldos Gary Zoldos has quite simply, been rocking since the day that he was born. In High School, he wrote music reviews for the Metro Student News and he worked as a record clerk at Cavages Records and Home of the Hits/Play It Again Sam's. He was a legendary deejay at Mulligan's Brick Bar while putting himself through college. Gary has been a veteran of over 20 years of the original Buffalo Music scene. His first band, the mod/punk group known as The Hiwatts were a big draw at McVan's, The Schupper House and The Continental. After leaving The Hiwatts, he became a member of The (Rhythm) Method who's members included Buffalo songwriting legend Bob Kozak and local producer/engineer/drummer Mike Brydalski. The "rhythm" part was later dropped and the Method entered Tommy Calandra's legendary BCMK (Buffalo College of Musical Knowledge) Studios, where they recorded "Daylight" which would surface many years later on "Greater Buffalo's Greatest Hits". After a few years hiatus, Gary formed the Sons of Chuck Berry, which would later change their name to The 7th Sons. The 7th Sons lineup included Buffalo Music Hall of Fame Member, Bob James, local legend Patrick Kane and Mike Brydalski. The 7th Sons were an immediate hit with their single "When I'm Gone", written by Zoldos and James getting regular airplay on WBNY and WPHD. Highlights of their career included playing at Thursday in the Square, and selling out the Tralf not once, but twice. They reunited in 2004 when Zoldos was called upon by the Democratic Party to put on a benefit concert for John Kerry and Brian Higgins. The "Concerts for Change" series included a Jack Black concert in Los Angeles and a Michelle Shocked concert in Austin, TX. In 2003, Gary won a National Talent search contest from Rolling Stone Magazine and went to NYC to rehearse for a week. At the end of the week, he opened up for Roger Daltrey, lead singer of the Who at New York's legendary (and sadly defunct) Bottom Line, which launched the career of one Bruce Springsteen. In 2008, Gary came back swinging by forming the Pillagers with his longtime friend and band mate, Patrick Kane, David Bowling (Whiskey Daredevils), and local pros Dave Privitera and Mike Morrissey. The new supergroup has performed with Bruce Hornsby, the B-52's and Willie Nile. Gary is happy to be back rocking again with the supergroup that is The Pillagers and this is his first Buffalo Music Awards nomination. Some of Gary's closest friends are Bruce Moser (who he inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame), Mike Peters of the Alarm, Willie Nile and Bebe Buell. Gary also appears as a solo artist on a CD which raised money for anti-violence programs in schools entitled "Liberation: War is Over" alongside Nils Lofgren, Patti Smith, the Indigo Girls, Willie Nile, Ani DiFranco and the Goo Goo Dolls.
