The OneNeeders' story started many years ago when OneNeeder 1's mother worked at Max's. As a kid he got to see many bands during their sound checks. This brought the youth to an early desire to play guitar. Then at Christmas when he was 11, his parents bought him a plastic guitar.
Years passed and OneNeeder saved his money to buy the cheapest Epiphone that was made. His fingers bled before he could play a song. He got a cheap electric and had no more luck. It seemed like guitars were out of the question.
Then he went to college. Well at least some days. One day a friend got him to go to a bar to see a local band. OneNeeder started a friendship with them and they asked him to go out on their tour. $ weeks into it, OneNeeder had made about $150 so the band fired both roadies because they couldn't afford it.
The two roadies were told of a hot band in Shreveport that needed two guy so they hitch-hiked to Louisiana. OneNeeder was put in charge of tuning guitars and basses. All of a sudden truly fine instruments were in his hand. The guitarist showed him barre chords. Even those dreaded chords were makable. This changed OneNeeders life.
Years went by and OneNeeder was married and had a son. One day his wife was killed in a kiln accident as a piece of pottery blew up.That left OneNeeder to raise his son. When the boy was 5, they went out and got a strat and a telecaster. A year later the boy switched to drums. Now there were good instruments laying around. Soon OneNeeder found himself in a band with a hot drummer called Food Poisoning. After that band broke-up they were out clubbing and watched The Jolly Ball Theory. The lead singer, Jollyball decided to join the OneNeeders and the band was formed. Sometimes the bassist from The Church Street Shakers plays with them.
Now what is a OneNeeder? Well we all have spiritual needs. For the guys in this band it is Christianity. While they sometimes sing of their faith, they also believe that their spirituality involves all the things they are involved with as people. That's why they sing of other things as well.
