About TheNewUp
The New Up-just plain great music!
Described as "hip modern pop with a strong psychedelic streak" (Good Times) and "smoldering, post-punk-brushed dance-rock" (Isthmus), The New Up actively engage with the spirit of Radiohead, Pavement and TV on the Radio, bands that pump hot blood into modern chrome forms, dissecting and defusing today's too-much-information onslaught with hard-edged, hip shakin' fury. Front and center is ES Pitcher's intoxicatingly liquid voice, which recalls vintage Siouxsie and The Banshees and Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Featuring Noah Reid on guitar, Hawk West on flute and automation, Jack McFadden on drums and Dain Dizazzo on bass, The New Up combines hyper-intelligent songs and inspired musicianship in their riveting performances. In 2007 the band achieved many milestones, releasing their second album Palace of Industrial Hope which has been praised as "a sleek, sultry work worthy of its mystical name" (Salt Lake City Weekly) with songs that "move with a seething, aggressive kind of dream logic" (The Chicago Reader), producing their first video for lead track "Arkansas" and signing with San Francisco's IRIS, one of the leading worldwide digital distribution companies for independent artists. The New Up is currently at work on a new EP, due for release in 2008.
