The MSD Quintet makes it’s home in Newport, RI, and have been performing their energetic contemporary-jazz sound in Southern New England. The influences of the Yellowjackets, Weather Report, Pat Metheny Group, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, as well as the infectious Rock and R&B sounds from the ’60’s to the present, has created the sound of MSDQ.

DRIVEN is the debut recording of MSDQ, and was produced by Yellowjackets’ bassist Jimmy Haslip. Gospel, Hip-Hop, Latin, and a taste of New Orleans, are some of the flavorful ingredients that stew DRIVEN.
