Although The March of the Bull is considered to be a band from Denton, Texas, the group initially formed in 2008 in Sulphur Springs, a town 80 miles East of Dallas. In 2009, the band recorded a 3 song demo and began playing shows in Denton, Dallas, and College Station. In 2010, the band began recording their debut full length, State of Emergency, with producer Jim King of Sonic Dropper Studios in Dallas, Texas. The release date is scheduled for Summer 2011. State of Emergency is a 12 track album based on a story covering the events from a viral outbreak in which the infected begin displaying progressively more aggressive behaviors that eventually lead to numerous murders, wars, and widespread chaos. A protagonist exists in the story in the physical image of a large man with bull-like features. The album does not yet go into detail of the origins of the protagonist or even simply tell the reader/listener what the creature is, as the origins will be explained on the next album possibly. An antagonist also exists in the story in the image of a shadowy creature and his origins are also not discussed thoroughly in State of Emergency. Not only does the protagonist attempt to stop the shadowy creature and the virus, he also has many internal battles that are vaguely discussed in the album but are seen as previews to next album. The music of The March of the Bull has been described most simply as music that creates a feeling of anxiety that stems from the bands own anxieties from worrying so much about things that people have no control over. Eventually this feeling leads to anger and frustration. In the end, this frustration leads to people, such as the members of the band, performing behaviors that are not always socially acceptable among the norm as a check to make a decision about what it really means to be alive.
