About THE HWY 50 BAND
Currently playing regularly in Historic downtown Winter Garden, The Hwy 50 Band has become a very popular local attraction. With original music, which has been described as alternative Roots/Rock with a twist, The Hwy 50 Band is setting its own mark on the music of today. Original members Rusty Roberson and Lee Grimes have written and are in production at Durbin Audio with their first album due to release VERY SOON. Both born and raised in Winter Garden and friends since first grade, they decided in 2006 to collaborate on their songs together. Enlisting the help of Mark Howell (Bass & vocals) formerly of “The Note Ropers” and “The Dyer Brothers”, Johnny Harrell (Drums & Vocals) formerly with “The Note Ropers” and “The US Males”, and Jack Pearson (vocals, sax, flute, and harmonica) formerly with “Crispy Soup”, they formed The Hwy 50 Band. Also on board as of late is legendary John Prince on bass and vocals. With over a year in production the band made its debut at the 2007 Winter Garden Music Festival with huge success. Rusty Roberson , formerly with such bands as “Moving Target”, “Note Ropers” and “Crispy Soup” , plays lead guitar and vocals and has written local favorite songs “Southern Smile and White Nightmare”. Lee Grimes playing vocals and acoustic guitar has written local favorites “Addiction and Time”. New songs for the second album are currently in pre-production and are scheduled to be released in 2009.
