Biography

It's funny how life can bring us to people we'd never thought it would. Sometimes the chosen path may not be the desired, and sometimes it takes courage to break away from the norm and take the step towards what makes you happy. In this case, that satisfaction is music. It's funny how life can bring us to people we'd never thought it would. Sometimes the chosen path may not be the desired, and sometimes it takes courage to break away from the norm and take the step towards what makes you happy. In this case, that satisfaction is music. Music in all shapes and forms: pop-punk, 80's electronica, post-hardcore, 90s alt-rock. Combining those styles and putting together something that you can be proud of is what can be called satisfaction and happiness. If someone asked 8 years ago if they would have been dedicated to a particular style and would not stray away, but with age comes musical maturity and open-mindedness, and with that comes the desire to deviate away from your comfort-zone and create something that you can call yours and that is different from what you are you used to hearing. Enter TheFlashJam. Meeting only through absolute coincidences and chances, TheFlashJam became a band of hybrid ideas and styles. Starting in 2008 when Andrew Morren and Oliver Banjac realized that it was time to start something that was unlike what they have played before or even listened to, the idea for the then-unnamed project became a realization that it can only be done with the right people. Both individuals coming from different musical spectrums, they came together over their love for bands like Anberlin, The Receiving End of Sirens, Emery, and From Autumn To Ashes, to name a few. It was only the start as soon enough, Jamie Mclean entered the fold and brought a new spin to the sound. Having played previously in bands such as Calico Drive, Jamie carried experience and drive necessary to start the ball rolling on what was to become TheFlashJam. By not taking a relaxed attitude towards song-writing, the trio started writing ideas for potential songs while auditioning for band members. With Jamie's previous pop-punk influence, Andrew's post-hardcore love and Oliver's electronica inspired sound, all three strived to combine the different genres while maintaining a modern sound, however, they knew that they could not do it alone. Through strenuous bass player auditions, the band came upon Brody Krock, who also desired the change in style from the local bands that he previously played in. It was only a few months after that, that through mutual friends Stefan Candie was introduced to the band. His influence of 90s alt-rock and synth driven bands such as Depeche Mode made Stefan the perfect match to the rest of the band members and his role as vocalist/keyboardist in First City Fallen also gave him the credibility needed to complete what was now known as TheFlashJam. Now in September 2009, TheFlashJam is finally ready to introduce the fruit of their labour of the last year with their self-titled debut EP that is readily available on online retailers such as iTunes, Rhapsody, and CdBaby as well as in physical CD format. Combining their previously mentioned influences, they have created a 4-track EP that features songs that make their listeners want to dance, rock, and just have plain fun to. TheFlashJam are confident in their sound and are ready to take on new challenges.
