When the summer of 2006 surfaced, so did an entirely new and original pop/punk band--The Expensives. Consisting of just three young girls: Rachel Patterson, Fawn Linn, and Ariel (Bean) Biener, this band has emerged with tunes better than your grandma's cookies at Christmas time. "Our sound is different, but in a good way and we're more personal in the things we write," says Fawn. When The Expensives first began writing music in June 2006, there was an abundance of catchy lyrics, raw talent, and obvious dedication. After countless hours of practice, arguments, fist fights, and Yoohoo, The Expensives managed to pull together a four song EP, titled Say What, which was released in October of 2008. After releasing another EP called Adam, which featured many never-before-heard tracks, The Ex were ready to record a full length CD. Within 6 months, The Expensives had enough material for their debut album, in which they named Love Sick Commotion, released June 8th, 2009. In a recent interview with DJ Saint of Purely Gangster Radio, Rachel quotes: "It feels INCREDIBLE to finally have a full-length CD out. Some of the songs on the album are way old, like from three years ago. And some are brand new. It has a mix of different time periods and various emotions, which is where the CD gets it's name. We just felt like these songs deserved to be heard." The Expensives have played countless shows at venues all over the East Coast, including The Trocadero, The Fire, and Hangar 84. They have been on four compilation CDs and were featured in Purely Gangster Radio's 16th podcast. They have also had their music distributed at Warped Tour and in Hot Topic stores around the U.S. They are currently writing new music and hope to have a sophomore album out by early next year. Check them out on iTunes, Amazon, and Napster today and keep an eye out for them. Before you know it, they'll be on your TV screen.
