The group formed in 2007, when two friends with similar musical interests began introducing their latest works to each other. Jennifer Jacobs has been known as a strong/original vocalist in the area for some time, and a powerful songwriter . Brian Holt has been a mainstay on the Virginia music scene since his graduation from Berklee College of Music. When these two formed The Autumn Start, both of their experiences forged a whole new level of songwriting. Still in its early stages, the band is already earning accolades. Jennifer was voted in the top 3 best female vocalists by the Roanoke Times, and their songs have received Honorable Mentions from the Independent Singer/Songwriter Association and reached the semi-finals in the UK songwriting contest.
