About me: I have been playing music since the 3rd grade when the music teacher ( Bob Warriner who's funeral i attended today as i write this....God bless you), would come around to class with those plastic recorders. When i made 5th grade i joind the Big Bear Lake Elementary School band which he was the director. I started on trumpet and he saw that i was not very good so in 6th grade he gave me a new horn to play...a baritone horn and this is where i learned to play bass lines. When i went to High School, I switched to drums and played in the Big Bear High School Marching Bears all 4 years as one of the 4 snare drums and here is where i learned to keep a good solid beat. In the USAF i lived the the dorms and you cant hacve drums there so i put the baritone horn and drums together and bought a Bass guitar ! I joined my first club band in 1985 and in the past 23 years, have played every weekend with maybe missing about 6 months of weekends all that time. I have played in country, rock , blues , jazz and tones of top 40 bands in my years and often wondered what type of music i would write with so many influences. So with all this experience and my time with The Catz in the Hatz at an end ( Rhombus Records we are signed to), I have decided to do a solo album to answer my own question " what would i write? What type of music would it be? What the heck would it sound like? The music on this site is the result of those questions. I recorded the album " Commonplace" at supercheif recording studio in Big Bear Lake . I played all the instruments you hear and recorded all the vocal including the 3 part harmonies. I tracked guitar first, then bass then lead vocals, lead guitar, drums and BG vocals all in that order. This album is a combination of silly songs, ballads and soft rock.
