“Shaping up to be something marvelous…did you know this means something?” - Ten Suns Ten Suns are a group of best friends with a fire in their guts to inspire. They combine the energy of their 5 long-time core members with The Soft Orchestra, a group of collaborating musicians who add brass, strings, percussion and many voices, resulting in joyful choruses, frequency-generator sweeps and rhythmic on-stage conversations pulling the audience into its amorous circle. Together, they are a tour de force of world beats, diverse instrumentation, high-energy stage presence and harmony. Often likened to The Arcade Fire, Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon and No Doubt, Ten Suns’ incredibly positive sound rings true on their debut EP. Just Sing On was recorded and produced by Ten Suns’ drummer Hamish Thomson, RED and Ten Suns with additional engineering by Mike Rogerson (Chris Isaak Show, Green Day, KISS), mixed by the illustrious Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, Mother Mother, New Pornographers) and mastered by Steve Hall (Green Day, Blondie, Tom Petty). Ten Suns’ core includes Hamish Thomson, Red, Jon Frederiksen, Robb Mitchell, Duane Murrin (stemming from The Hermit, Big Tall Garden, Pink Flamingo Burlesque, Gonch Messiah) with the Soft Orchestra: Emily Bach, Andy Cakes (Phatty Phatty & the Roaches), Melissa Hammer (Kanye West’s all-female orchestra, The Grand Trine) Byron Hanson (Chor Leoni) and Laura Smith (Laura Smith). Ten Suns are in love with each other and with each audience they meet. They are blessed to perform together with joy and fervour, and invite every listener to join in that exuberance along with them.
