Telemetry was formed in 2005 by Sacramento native Ian Rasmussen, while he was attending school in southern California. In '06, Ian graduated and moved back to Sacramento to focus full-time on music, completing Telemetry's freshman EP, The Lemon Tree, which he had begun with his band in SoCal. Back in the Sacramento area, Ian wanted to put a new band together with local musicians. He met Brandon Thurman (drums) of the bands 26weeks and Release. After one jam session on tunes from Lemon Tree, Brandon was officially the new drummer. Now for a bass player. Ryan DeArcos had played guitar in the band Entropy with Ian years before, and when Ian moved back to the area and finished Lemon Tree, a mutual friend gave the EP to DeArcos. After giving it a listen, Ryan asked Ian if they had any shows coming up, and Ian told him they just needed a bassist. A few days later, Ryan (who had never had a bass lesson in his life) called Ian and asked if he could give the bass a shot. The band played through some originals, and for the first time, everything sounded like it should. Telemetry was reborn. Now the band is gigging and planning their sophomore release. You can get a sneak peek at the pre-production songs Simple Guy and End of the World, both on MySpace. Drown yourself in the sweet melodies of Telemetry.
