Teddy Presberg has been playing guitar ever since he had a thumb to hitch-hike his way into the downtown St. Louis jazz and blues scene. After a recent eight year stint in the West Coast music scene, Teddy now makes his home once again in St. Louis, Missouri.

Teddy roots his music in improvisation, inspired by the moment and the audience. Often compared to the funky, soulful jazz musicians such as Grant Green and Eddie Harris, you also hear artists such as The White Stripes and Beck influence his sound. His music is fresh, ever evolving, and lays out his immediate and unfiltered response to our society and times.

Teddy is known to musicians for speaking his own language on the guitar. He’s not flashy with in-your-face chops. He can own one note, and with that note, you know exactly what he means . Teddy plays for the moment, never repeating himself – risking the falls to reach the musical highs.

2007 welcomes the release of Teddy’s debut solo recordings: “Blueprint of Soul.” The album consists of songs written in a stream of consciousness, tracks done in one take, and unforgettable improvisational grooves. The result is a funky Friday-night record. From the liner notes:

“…wrote this music on the spot. All of the tracks were done freely in one take within the spontaneous creative process: a moment, the muse, let it flow, hit record, funk it, press stop, overdub, and play it loud.”

In 2005 and 2006, Teddy accompanied Garett Brennan on his highly acclaimed “Keep it Simple Tour” which was co-sponsored by the town of Alta, UT and the environmental friendly organic bar producer Clif Bar. The national tour included shared bills with artists such as Peter Rowan, Sonny Landreth, Keith Greeninger, Darrell Anger, Tony Furtado, Brandi Carlile, and The Everyone Orchestra.

Currently, Teddy is performing in the Pacific Northwest and the St. Louis area, teaching music, and producing musical projects in the entertainment industry.
