Tape Recorder Three began as a soundtrack to an independent horror film circa summer of ‘03. The film fell apart virtually at the starting gate, due to lack of production money, but, the soundtrack was completed, and drew some attention from the elm city underground. Following the ’success’ of these recordings we began incorporating lyrics into our material, and with the help of elm city DJ and techno-wizard Acousmata, we embarked on a recording project that has so far produced recorded two and one half albums, an e.p. ‘Modified Suit’, an l.p. ‘Character Amour’, and a new, as yet presently unreleased reoord ‘Deep Politics’. We’ve recieved numerous positive reviews in e-mags, and paper rags from coast to coast usa, and the uk as well. Originating, as we do, from a visual medium, we view our songs as ‘little movies’, influenced equally by classical literature and comic books, surrealism and serious drama. We have an unabashed penchant for ‘fringe’ ideas, a deep respect for reggae music, punk rock, and late 80’s early 90’s alternative artists. Pleased to be here.
